Anti-Static Polythene
We have an anti-static polythene that prevents static build up. Our customers who work in an Electrostatic Protection Area (EPA) use this polythene as it will not generate a static charge. Another feature of this polythene is that it won’t attract dust making it ideal for assembly and packing lines.
Polythene is a natural electrical insulator with the ability to support static build up. Static is produced when one material moves over another this results in a static discharge causing shocks to the persons packing the products. In flammable environments this can also cause fires or explosions. The static generated will also cause dust to be attracted to the polythene resulting in contamination and potentially reducing the polythene’s performance.
Anti-Static additives are blended with the polymer prior to extrusion and they work by lowering the resistivity of a material mobilising the charges and preventing static build up.
Colour Additives
Coloured polythene makes your products stand out. Coloured polythene can be opaque or tinted dependant on your requirements. By adding colour to your polythene you can categorise your products quickly prevent polythene contamination hide the contents and also create a contrast for print designs. Blue polythene is widely used in the food industry as this colour is easily spotted should a piece of polythene find its way into a food product. Yellow polythene with a black printed stripe is widely used to mark hazardous waste.

Polythene is naturally clear. During the extrusion process colour masterbatches are added to the polythene to give the desired level of colour. Lower treat rates result in a tinted polythene which retains a certain level of transparency. Higher treat rates result in an opaque polythene.
Flame Retardant Polythene
We have a flame retardant polythene that can protect against fire and heat. Our customers in the construction industry use this flame retardant polythene for a number of applications during building restorations and construction works.
Polythene is naturally flammable making it unsuitable for certain applications mainly in the construction industry.
Flame retardant additives are added to polymers prior to extrusion and can delay or inhibit combustion. Once the flame retardant polythene is burning the additives react together to produce a gas that restricts the available oxygen thereby limiting the burning process.
High Slip Polythene Additive
We have a high slip polythene that allows products to be slid inside the polythene easily. Our customers in the textile and laundry industries use this high slip polythene to quickly pack bulky items.
High slip low density polythene (LDPE) is normally a melt 4 film grade although slip and anti-block can be added to a melt 2 grade film to achieve similar results. This is particularly popular in thin gauged films and in bags that are being used to pack large bulky light weight items.
Slip and anti-block additives are added to polymers prior to extrusion and increase the amount of slip or slipperiness of the polythene.
Low Slip Polythene Additive
We have a low slip polythene that has a reduced amount of slip to standard polythene. Our customers use low slip polythene for bagging products such as coal and animal feed. The low slip bags can be stacked on top of each other without slipping off.
Low slip polythene can also layered throughout a pallet to hold palletised product during shipment. You may have seen some of our low slip polythene in your local supermarket layered between plastic containers of chocolates.
Low slip low density polythene (LDPE) is a fractional melt film grade. The polythene has no slip or anti-blocking agents and the polythene feels almost rubbery to the touch.
Ultraviolet Inhibitor (UVI) Additive
We have Polythene that can resist sunlight effects. Our customers who store their products outside for prolonged periods of time use our Ultraviolet inhibitor treated polythene.
Polythene degrades when exposed to the ultraviolet rays found in sunlight. For short periods of time this won’t cause any issue but if your polythene is likely to be exposed for months or even years it’s important to use an additive called ultraviolet inhibitor otherwise known as UVI. UVI is blended with the polymer prior to extrusion and will prolong the life of the polythene. The treatment rate will depend on the level of expected exposure.
